New Orleans, LA
To All Medical Staff:
I am a young man who was born, raised, and lived in
the city of New Orleans. I am an average citizen who
was not able to afford medical insurance. After the
Katrina disaster, I was forced to flee to another part
of the state. I had medical needs that I was not financially
able to take care of, though I do my best to take care
of myself considering.
When I heard of this opportunity to get all the medical
attention I needed taken care of, I came the first day.
When I found out all of the providers here had volunteered
their services totally free of charge, I could not see
how such an elaborate clinic could be brought to a remote
location such as our city zoo. I felt grateful for this
wonderful outpouring of help. That was how I felt early
on, but after I began getting treated for the various
needs I had, I really was deeply touched. I have never
experienced such great charity (love) from total strangers
all forty-three years of my life. After my third day
of receiving care and kindness, I was full of gratitude,
appreciation, and thanks to all who had left their families,
their jobs, and their personal lives to come to our
city and participate in such a wonderful outpouring
of labor and compassion for their fellow man in need.
At the end of the day, I wanted to go to each of you
and shake your hand, hug you, and tell you personally
Thank You, I really deeply appreciate your gift.
Since that was really impossible, I decided to write
this letter to you. I was considering sending a big
floral arrangement or a great big card, but I think
writing this letter and saying these words would be
remembered and received much more personally. The words
of this letter, like all words are eternal; they will
never stop until they reach you deep down in your heart
(feelings, soul) and you realize that you helped someone
more than you could ever imagine. I say to you
Thank You Very Much,
