Without
our volunteers, RAM would be unable to provide the services
our patients need. The volunteers hardest to find are
the professionals, such as dentists, ophthalmologists,
optometrists, and other physicians whose services the
patients have come to receive. We also have roles for
dental hygienists, nurses, EMTs, and CNAs, and other
licensed professionals. Veterinarians, veterinary technicians
and assistants are also encouraged to volunteer. If
you have a skill that you believe might be useful to
RAM's patients, you are invited to contact
us for more information. |
Another
way to volunteer is to contact the local organization
that is sponsoring the expedition, and to volunteer
with them. Often, they are responsible for most of
the non-licensed operations of an expedition, and
can tell you what needs they have. Information on
sponsoring agencies is available from RAM headquarters.
Medical
students and nursing students often are involved in
patient care. To volunteer as a student, you need
to have school sponsorship and supervision, in the
form of a licensed practitioner. For more details,
contact us.

On
overseas expeditions, our teams are selected based on
the purpose of the trip. For example, on women's health
trips to Guyana, our team may be composed of primarily
women's health specialists, such as OB/Gynecologists
and surgeons, a pathologist when available, nurses,
and several other support personnel. If you have an
interest in these types of expeditions, you should dialogue
with RAM directly. |
RAM always
welcomes people interested in volunteering to come and
be a part of an expedition. To volunteer, please fill
out the volunteer application,
and mail it to the address on the form. |
