About the expedition:

Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate TN is located in Claiborne County, TN. Next to it are Campbell County TN and Scott County TN, as well as the Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia borders. In the heart of Appalachia and coal and strip mining country, the location is one of the best examples of what RAM's Rural America project is all about. The August 19-20 2006 expedition to LMU will include dental, vision, general medical, and veterinary services for the impoverished areas surrounding LMU, where low incomes and no insurance abound.

RAM anticipates that this first free medical clinic to be held in a university setting will be one of the largest for the State of Tennessee, drawing a minimum of 1,000 needy people or more. We anticipate that it will become an annual event which in time could equal the size of Wise County, VA's annual expedition in July, which now brings services to over 6000 people in a three-day period.
