Medical

By the nature of RAM's customary expeditions in the US, medical services are usually limited to routine medical screenings, such as Pap smears and mammograms. This is because other medical services are really not effective with only one visit with a doctor.

In past overseas expeditions, we have done plastic surgery, cataract removals, even hysterectomies, as well as routine medical care in cooperation with local providers, when possible.

Although general medical care is not our usual fare, during RAM's response to the gulf-coast hurricanes of 2005, we provided a great deal of general medical care. Our doctors and nurses saw over 5,000 patients during the month following Katrina, and provided general medical care, minor trauma care, and vaccinations. In a follow-up expedition in February of 2006, we saw this many again in a week's time.
