“RAM, RAM of Virginia, and the Health Wagon are proud to be returning to the fairgrounds in Wise County, Virginia to provide the community with these much-needed dental, vision, and medical services. We are fully committed to ensuring this annual event is available to those in the area that need it,” said RAM Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Eastman.
According to U.S. census data, the poverty rate in Wise County is 23.5%, which far exceeds the national average of 12.7%. Additionally, Wise County ranks 124th out of Virginia’s 133 counties/cities in terms of health quality. Because of these factors, RAM expects to see great demand from residents in Wise and surrounding communities during the three-day clinic. “Last year alone, RAM provided $1.4 million dollars’ worth of free care to more than 2,000 people, right here in Wise County, Virginia,” said RAM Founder & President Stan Brock. “Until something changes, millions of people in this country will remain without access to affordable health care.”
RAM is still in need of additional dental, vision, and medical professionals to volunteer their time and skills in Wise. Thanks to state legislation, clinical professionals licensed in any of the 50 states can treat patients at RAM clinics in Virginia.
