This year’s event will spotlight our nation’s veterans who served during WWII and the Vietnam War

ROCKFORD, TN (May 14, 2018) – Remote Area Medical- RAM™ — a major non-profit provider of mobile medical clinics delivering free, high-quality, dental, vision, medical, and veterinary care to underserved and uninsured individuals —  will hold a special event Saturday, June 9, 2018 inside RAM’s hangar at the Downtown Island Airport (2701 Spence Place) in Knoxville in observance of the 74th anniversary of D-Day to honor our country’s military veterans.

Gates will open at 10 am to allow the public to view a variety of military vehicles, historical photographs, and wartime memorabilia from multiple eras. RAM’s flagship humanitarian relief plane, a C47/DC3, which flew over Normandy on D-Day, will be on display. A ceremony to give special recognition to WW II and Vietnam War veterans and to honor men and women of all branches of our armed forces will begin at 11 am. The ceremony will include a speech by RAM President & Founder, Stan Brock. Music will include the 80-piece Tennessee Wind Symphony and a bagpipe performance. The ceremony will conclude with a RAM Airborne Delivery Team parachuting onto the airfield immediately following the ceremony (weather permitting).  The event, which is being emceed by WBIR’s John Becker, is made possible in-part through generous sponsors, including Pilot-Flying J, University of Tennessee Medical Center, Clayton Homes, and Hart Graphics.
