Angel hadn’t had an eye exam in four years. She superglued her glasses together to keep working. Then she came to a RAM Clinic.

Angel's story

Angel is a 39-year-old server and single mom raising two boys in Tennessee. When money is tight, she has to makes choices. And her sons always come first.

"Being a single mom, I just – all my extra money goes to my kids.”

For three years, she wore the same pair of glasses. Her prescription had jumped from 3.25 to 4.75. She could feel it. She knew they were worse.

"If I take my glasses off, I can't see to find them if I don't remember where they're at.”

Further away, everything was blurred. She’d been pushing through headaches for about a year.

When her frames broke, she superglued them back together so she could keep working her shifts.

A woman at a local food bank told her about RAM. Angel found our schedule and made the drive to Athens. It was her first RAM Clinic.

“I’m excited. I’m glad. I’m happy. I’m thankful.”

At the Athens clinic, Angel received a comprehensive eye exam and walked out with new prescription glasses. Free of charge.
