Fundraising Specialist

The Fundraising Specialist serves on the development team and reports directly to the Communications/Grants Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Remote Area Medical’s Fundraising Specialist works closely with the Communications/Grants Manager to expand and strengthen relationships with potential and current donors, including individual, major gifts, corporate, and foundation donors. He/She will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high-level funders, developing and executing fundraising strategy, and supporting all fundraising efforts through detailed research and excellent stewardship. 
  • Develops and leads the corporate sponsorship program, including identifying potential corporate donors and stewarding current corporate donors through the delivery of benefits.
  • Develops and leads all individual giving initiatives, including identifying potential major donors, stewarding these donors in coordination with the Communications/Grants Manager and CEO, and managing solicitation communications.
  • Develops and leads a new planned giving program
  • Works closely with the Communications/Grants Manager and the Clinic Supply Chain Manager to secure in-kind gifts for mobile medical clinics and other RAM initiatives.
  • Maintains schedule for all fundraising deadlines, including proposal and report deadlines and solicitation deadlines. Responsible for managing and conducting a full range of activities required to draft, prepare, write, and submit grant proposals and/or requests; letters of inquiry to foundations and/or corporations; and individual donor solicitations, including, but not limited to, renewal letters, email requests, and unique fundraising campaigns.
  • Conducts necessary research to evaluate prospects for individual, institutional, and corporate donations.
  • Creates and manages Annual Fundraising Schedule for the organization and specific programs, including grants and reporting deadlines.
  • Manages RAM’s CRM database, Sumac, ensuring information on donors and prospective donors is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Works closely with the Communications/Grants Manager and sends all fundraising documents for review and approval before submitting.
  • Follows up with donors and prospective donors when necessary, and sets up appointments with senior staff. Arranges for on-site and clinic tours for donors and prospective donors.
  • Travels to clinics on an as-needed basis meet with donors and assist with marketing activities
  • Develops and leads all other fundraising projects as requested.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, the Humanities or other related field.
  • Two to four years of experience in fundraising
  • Previous experience in the nonprofit sector a must.
  • Strong written communications skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility and adaptability a must
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines 
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising strategies and processes and knowledgeable of latest trends in the sector.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Photography/Videography skills preferred, but not required

Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator reports directly to the Volunteer Manager and serves on the Operations Team.  This position evaluates and coordinates volunteers based on effective volunteer systems thereby enabling the smooth execution of RAM’s general business operations.  This position is also responsible for the following: 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining healthy strategic relationships with direct supervisor and personnel within RAM and carrying out tasks as directed by Volunteer Manager.
  • Building and maintaining healthy strategic relationships with volunteers and partners outside RAM that would benefit the department and organizational objectives. Seeking out and evaluating potential individuals and organization to determine suitability for service as volunteers and partners with the organization in order to further the organization’s operations.
  • Monitoring registration status of specific volunteers and determining which volunteer personnel should be promoted into positions of greater responsibility.
  • Assessing volunteer personnel structure and determining necessary positions for particular clinics; eliminating unnecessary positions.
  • Working with the director of the clinic with recruiting, mobilizing, and enlisting volunteers for clinic events; includes analyzing suitability and placement for both new and returning volunteers.
  • Facilitating student group volunteers in accordance with RAM’s volunteer policies.
  • Communicating necessary clinic information such as lodging, food, hospitality, schedule, travel and any other logistic items to volunteers prior to clinic events to ensure safe and efficient volunteer participation which is a critical element of RAM’s general business operation.
  • Supervising volunteer registration on site to carry out volunteer assignments as determined necessary by Volunteer Coordinators. Other services at clinic events as necessary.
  • Creatively acknowledging and recognizing volunteer involvement to spur further involvement.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Providing updated information on clinics for all on and offline communication such as websites.
  • Preparing volunteer reports and check professional licensure for volunteers. Reporting violations to Volunteer Manager.
  • Fulfill requests by pharmacies about prescribing practitioners.

Clinic Equipment Assistant

The Clinic Equipment Assistant reports directly to the Clinic Equipment Manager and serves on the Operations Team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining healthy strategic relationships with supervisor, personnel, volunteers and partners that would benefit the department and organizational objectives and advance our mission
  • Facilitating affiliates with needed equipment and transportation units as directed by the department head; excelling in mechanical familiarity and maintenance of RAM clinic equipment and units; assisting in training others in related field as directed; oversee, manage and maintain clinic equipment, which includes pre-clinic site inspection, unloading, assimilation, maintenance and loading during clinic events and any follow up post clinic events
  • Recommending and providing advice on clinic operation opportunities, processes, and methods to improve relations and function of RAM clinics in the related field
  • Being familiar with clinic concepts, practices, equipment, transportation units and procedures
  • Relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals performing a variety of tasks as directed by the Clinic Equipment Manager
  • Performing a variety of tasks and duties as directed by your Management Team

Development Video and Marketing Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA

Remote Area Medical (RAM) is looking for a confident, creative, and flexible person to commit to 12 months of service as a Development Video and Marketing Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA. During your service, you will support RAM’s development staff in creating materials that better communicate RAM’s work, develop materials and processes to better market RAM’s mobile medical clinics to low-income communities, and film and edit videos of RAM clinics and other efforts. These tasks will ultimately help RAM provide more low-income individuals with access to RAM’s free mobile medical clinic services and RAM’s disaster response efforts.

You’ll be a great fit if you are committed to service and have an interest in developing a deeper understanding of how health disparities impact low-income and rural communities. This position is appropriate for anyone committed to helping RAM in its mission of preventing pain and alleviating suffering by providing free, quality care to those in need, including recent graduates of undergraduate and graduate programs, career-changing professionals, and retirees.

This service position is estimated to begin in October 2018 (depending on applicant availability/acceptance). While you will be fully integrated as a member of the RAM team, this is a volunteer position funded by the AmeriCorps VISTA program, not a conventional job posting. Benefits include a monthly living stipend (approx. $1,023/month), health insurance reimbursement and, at the completion of service, an education award of $5,920.
