RAM TELEHEALTH
Medical care that comes to you
RAM Telehealth brings medical care directly into communities across Tennessee.
How RAM Telehealth Works
Our mobile telehealth clinic is not your traditional at-home telehealth service. Think of our mobile medical units as exam rooms on wheels that travel to your community. They are always staffed by a registered nurse, and anyone can come into our mobile healthcare clinic to speak to a doctor via free telehealth services on our mobile devices.

Simple. Efficient. Focused on access.

What We Treat
We focus on common conditions and short-term care needs. Services include:
- Medication refills (up to 30 days, non-controlled)
- Colds, flu, rashes, and infections
- Simple wound care
- Blood pressure and blood glucose checks
- Health education and guidance
We do not offer labs, X-rays, or replace primary care. Our goal is to bridge the gap until patients can access ongoing care.

How Our Telehealth Clinics Operate
We focus on common conditions and short-term care needs. Services include:
- Mobile unit (similar to an RV)
- Onsite volunteers for patient registration
- Onsite registered nurse for triage and support
- Remote volunteer MDs (licensed either in Tennessee or out-of-state, authorized under the Volunteer Health Care Services Act)
We can handle up to 4 patients per hour, with clinics typically running 3-5 hours.

Care on the Move
Bringing healthcare to where people are – that’s what Remote Area Medical has always done.
Our telehealth program builds on that mission by bringing in-person support, reliable internet access, and direct access to a licensed doctor together in one mobile unit.
A volunteer nurse is always onboard to manage patient intake, check vital signs, prepare the doctor for consultations, and support the patient onsite. Patients then connect by video with a volunteer physician for a virtual care visit.
This collaborative approach removes barriers such as distance, transportation, and internet access while ensuring every part of the virtual healthcare experience is handled efficiently and with personal care.

Telehealth Volunteer Interest Form
I appreciate her treating me like a human being — like a person. That goes a long way. They called you by your first name instead of your last name. I know it’s a little thing, but that means a lot.
